“In this new group of paintings I have taken an even closer look at the natural world, and in particular, focusing on some of the climate-fueled events of this past year, from forest fires to flooding. But for this exhibit I have chosen to force myself to turn the corner and apply a positive outlook on our current predicament. With this work I have strived to portray this new perspective; perhaps one that can help us to carry on.

Stylistically my work has evolved this year and by observing the patterns of birds gliding over the landscapes in front of me, I noticed a pattern of line and flow to their movements. It inspired me to embrace my love for drawing as a way to express my personal reaction to the subject of each new canvas.

I am excited to share it in this new exhibition at my first show in the new Dianna Witte Gallery space. And as I ‘glide in’ on an airplane to Toronto, it seems to be the perfect title for the exhibition.”

At Witty’s, Oil On Canvas, 39” x 39”, 2023

Anne Griffiths studied painting at Emily Carr University and received a diploma in design and illustration (1986) from Capilano University’s IDEA Program, later working as an international art director in several of Vancouver's prominent design firms for over 20 years.

For the past 10 years Anne has focused exclusively on her own painting practice, one that is built upon the interplay of colour and form—delivering interpretive landscape-spaces with a dexterous colour pallette. Her work has been exhibited in numerous group and solo shows, as well as having completed several large commissions.
