INTRODUCING
SARA MACCULLOCH
JUNE 2022

We are happy to share that we are now working with Halifax-based painter, Sara MacCulloch. You can view recent works by Sara, completed during her self-directed residency in Toronto, in our front gallery during the month of June.

FIONA FREEMARK
SUNSET WATCH

MAY 5TH - 28TH, 2022

We are pleased to present Sunset Watch, a solo exhibition of photo-based works by Fiona Freemark. A Core Exhibition of the 2022 Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival.

In this exhibition of works by Toronto-based artist Fiona Freemark, motifs of sunsets, poppies, chain-link fence, and shadows on pavement repeat throughout, products of the artist’s daily walks around her Scarborough neighbourhood. Through analogue interventions—cutting into and weaving together her original photographs—Freemark translates both the aesthetics of the city and the sensations of interacting with the world in equally mundane and profound ways.

JEREMY MIRANDA
REMIND ME WHEN WE GET THERE

APRIL 8TH - 30TH, 2022

We are thrilled to present Remind Me When We Get There, a solo exhibition of new works by Jeremy Miranda. This is Miranda's fourth solo show with Dianna Witte Gallery.

Miranda's recent work is rooted in depictions of his changing routine, while keeping sparks of the ethereal within the small details of a moody sunset, or the glow of fireflies on a summer night. These new paintings are a departure from the invented narratives and spaces typical in his work. They are grounded in the everyday and are primarily about observing the forms and colour that make up the spaces in his immediate surroundings.

INTRODUCING: KYUNG SOON PARK
MARCH 11TH - APRIL 2ND, 2022

We are pleased to introduce the work of artist, Kyung Soon Park. Kyung received her BAA from Sheridan, and has worked as an award-winning illustrator since 2007. Her unique talents bring detail and finesse to her images, while her mastery of colour delivers both joy and depth to her themes. She finds inspiration in her memories of the Korean textiles from her parents’ business back in South Korea, and from her own hands-on artistry with plants and flowers. We look forward to sharing her recent series of oil paintings.

NEW IN THE GALLERY: JEFFREY HARRISON
JANUARY 28TH - FEBRUARY 26TH, 2022

We are pleased to present a feature of recent oil paintings by Jeffrey Harrison through February 26th. Harrison lives and works in Toronto and has been exhibiting with Dianna Witte Gallery since 2005.

"Harrison's paintings are objects that we interact with: they make their physicality known through size, texture, and colour. The energy in them is palatable. His most recent work deviates slightly from Harrison's previous series, with the motif of nature and flowers at the forefront (flowers on acid, albeit). Harrison's own relationship to nature and gardening influences this motif, with elements from his life incorporated into the paintings.

Looking at Harrison's paintings, we realize that there's pleasure in chaos. Our eyes flutter through the work, finding new sections and passageways with each glance. A psychedelic Rorschach Test, we can attribute what we want onto the paintings, and it tells us something about ourselves."
