douglas walker

Douglas Walker was born in 1958 in Brockville, Ontario. He rose to prominence in the Toronto art world of the 1980s and is included in 'Tributes and Tributaries,' the AGO's survey show of that period. He recently toured 'Other Worlds'; an exhibition of large paper paintings that was shown at six museums across Canada. In 2015, he completed two large murals for the City of Markham. He has also exhibited at the ICA, the DIA Art Foundation, and the 49th Parallel. His work has been shown across Canada, including exhibitions at the PowerPlant, the Art Gallery at Harbourfront, MOCCA, YYZ and Mercer Union, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and the Dunlop Art Gallery. Walker was the focus of a travelling mid-career retrospective, curated by The Mendel Art gallery, and an overview of his career was featured at the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery. He has received awards from the Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council. Walker lives and works in Toronto.
